Welcome to The Southcote Community Association (SCA). We are a volunteer-led organisation dedicated to fostering community spirit and improving local wellbeing.
Our main aims are to bring the community together and improve the local area. We do this by running regular activities, including craft mornings, community clean-ups, and local markets. Additionally, we promote local events and news via our social media channels and quarterly newsletter, Southcote Echo.
The association is always looking for volunteers to help grow its projects and create meaningful opportunities for residents to connect.
The mission is to build a stronger, more connected community in an area that faces social and environmental challenges. By addressing issues like isolation, limited opportunities, and neighbourhood upkeep, the SCA helps residents feel more involved and supported. Our work focuses on fostering community spirit and pride where it is most needed.
Our vision is for Southcote to become a welcoming, active, and community-driven neighbourhood where residents feel a sense of belonging. By encouraging participation, collaboration, and care for the local environment, our hope is to transform Southcote into a thriving neighbourhood where connection, creativity, and local action strengthen everyday life.
While there are references to a Southcote Community Association dating back to 1957, the currently committee came together in 2023. At this time, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, previous activities run by the SCA had ceased. The committee had to start afresh. Over the past three years we have increased the number of activities we run, formed partnerships with local services and charities. And most importantly gained new volunteers.
